I like & respect Chuka & Anna, and I know they genuinely believe their fight against Brexit is for the public good. But the reason why we ALL get a vote is precisely to stop the powerful deciding what’s best for us on our behalf. The people have spoken on Brexit. Listen to them.https://twitter.com/chukaumunna/status/962628554797277184 …

I do not like or respect either. They are deliberately trying to overturn the results of a referendum before it is even implemented. They are the enemies of democracy and the sovereign people of Britain.

There is more to democracy than a referendum taken almost two years ago. The people have the right to reconsider their decision in the light of what we know now. In a democracy people can change their minds.

People can do whatever they like in the privacy of their own minds. What they cannot do is disregard or overturn the results of a referendum. That is the law, and the basis of democracy.

The people are sovereign.Parliament was created BY the people. If the will of the majority in Britain is meaningless, how much more so the dictats/whims of a foreign power.

Sean's timeline contains plenty of (justified) criticism of May's govt. But not all leave voters were Tory lovers, not did all anti-Tories vote remain. So I have absolutely no problem believing Sean here - why do you?

"The people have spoken" = now the people must shut up. No. This is still a democracy. We need a #FinalSay when we see what's on offer. Otherwise in 2019 we'll get a real brexit wanted only by a minority because a small majority voted for an imaginary brexit 3 years previously.

To work towards a ‘final say’ vote would merely be to give the EU free-hand to negotiate a punitive position in which the UK has to remain. Pragmatically, its unworkable

Brexiters say that. But they *also* say that the "punitive EU approach" is making people even more solid and determined to leave! Can't have it both ways. Cake-and-eat-it logic doesn't work in the real world, as we're finding out to our cost.pic.twitter.com/NmVjMQDzbX

I don’t care about current opinion polls; I’m just stating that the EU will use whatever tactics suit their agenda. And a ‘final say’ vote will encourage them to negotiate without any intent on genuine solution

No obviously. If you cared about current opinion polls you'd have to face up to the fact that most people now think leaving the EU would be a mistake.

I do care about the referendum result. I'm against brexit, but if it's the democratic choice of the UK population I accept we have to do it. That's why I want a #FinalSay -- to see if it (still) is what we want.

But if you’re candid; you must acknowledge that a final-say is to give the EU negotiators invitation to arrive at a position the electorate are liable to overturn. That’s undemocratic by proxy
