why are we bothering to turn up to negotiations? Tell the EU we'll start talking when they come up with a sensible position. otherwise It sounds like it's a waste of money on Civil servants in the dept of 'Exiting the EU'. They're doing nothing of use.

Ok, what's your suggestion for a transition from the current state, which doesn't include the current obligations? Do you understand what this is even for?
-
We already know what WTO rules are. Just get companies to start preparing for that now.
-
Do you know what needs to be resolved before falling out in to WTO. You do understand the hurdles we'd have to jump to do it right. Then you do understand just what it means for British business & industry? I only ask cos if you did I don't think you'd be suggesting it.

it matters not whether you are for or against brexit. This ultimatum is downright obscene and no sensible business person would have anything to do with a company that made such demands. Thank you Noel, but NO DEAL

If someone tried to tell me a "Deal" was one where I paid the same, had the same rules imposed on me but ceased to have a say in the future direction of those rules, I would punch them in the face.

Indeed. We should claim a hefty discount!

I think the EU will vote unanimously to end that special rebate of yours.. But maybe they'll wait until mid April 2019, who knows :>

This is what I am afraid of, although I suspect if they did so it would provoke a massive reaction within the Tory Party against the whole idea of a transition period.

So the £30 billion or so divorce (what divorce!) bill now increases by around £10B per year. May talks tough but is as effective as a sparrow's fart trying to blow out a candle from 100 yards.
