The DPP insists everything is fine with the rape cases the CPS charges but now all current rape cases are to be 'urgently' reviewed over disclosure fears. Time for Alison Saunders to go.http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-42841346 …

When she started I remember interviews where she bemoaned the lack of convictions for rape seemingly unaware it is only rape if there IS a conviction. All you can do is improve the process and see if the conviction rate goes up or down, not pick a "target"

It's time to investigate Keir Stamer and the CPS he controlled.

There won't be any changes without sanctions... Why aren't untruthful witnesses being prosecuted or officers who failed to disclose being sanctioned. The only way to change the course this, is to sanction those reaponsible for causing it! #howcouldanyjuryconvict

It would appear that Saunders is extraordinarily incompetent, even for public office in this day and age.

Exactly. Two points are concerning. What is she doing about those "complainants" who have misled the police? What is she doing about those convicted, now in jail, having been through the same slapdash system? Unless process is cleaned up, the innocent will suffer for the guilty.

So easy for you to criticise. Have you any idea of the pressure they and the police are working under. No one wants Justice and fair trials more than Prosecutors- it is the whole ethos of their work.

Acknowledged but believe me Prosecutors want to ensure Justice is done in every case they make a decision to prosecute and no one should lose sight of that.

It is systemic and not limited to rape cases. Also the courts have utterly failed to uphold the law and rules on disclosure. Had they done so we would not be in this mess. It is a legal establishment failure and meltdown. In the meantime MOJ cuts legal aid that enables scrutiny.

It is and has been patently obvious for some time that Saunders has been totally incompetent and unsuitable for the job of DPP so she needs to resign or be sacked.

Has to go, literally not interested in establishing guilt before prosecuting. Has a warped ideological view of the public interest.

It is NOT just rape and sexual assault cases inflicted with this problem it is rife throughout the CPS., at times deliberate in Criminal cases to secure a conviction, this has continued in excess of 30 years yes old habits die hard even with new prosecution legislation!
