Just use Virgin's wifi to read the Daily Mail online.

When they charge up to £484 for an open 1st Return between London and Manchester you might expect the wi-fi to be ok. Unfortunately,
@VirginTrains wi-fi signal is about as strong as my mathematical capabilities.

It's not a ban though, is it. Are they also 'banning' the Socialist Worker? Because they don't sell that either. Do they have an obligation to sell all or nothing? No, of course not. You are still free to buy the DM and take it on a Virgin Train if you wish.
-
It is a ban if they once sold it & now don't we all know Branson's political agenda
-
There used to be this really nice chocolate cake I liked in Tesco, but they don't sell it anymore. I can still buy it in Sainsbury's though. Did Tesco ban the chocolate cake?
-
Chocolates’s nothing to do with sharing and discussion of political ideas. It’s like the Hope not Hate campaign. Where one group - bit by bit is causing the suppression of conflicting ideas to control the narrative.
-
You're right. The 'crush the saboteurs', 'enemies of the people', and 'proud of yourselves' front pages definitely weren't about the suppression of conflicting ideas or trying to control the narrative. That was just free speech.
-
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/dec/12/the-guardian-view-on-the-brexit-vote-mutiny-wanted … - “Mutiny wanted” it works both ways but no one’s on about suppressing the Guardian or Independent for their anti Brexit views- even though more of the country voted for it.
-
For what it's worth, Virgin Trains don't sell the Guardian or the Independent either. But like they Daily Mail, they're also not banned. Virgin have just chosen not to sell them.
-
Perhaps they should sell them as well or none of them? People don’t seem to be resilient enough to cope with diversity of opinion. However fact this was acted upon at the behest of an employee’s conflicting opinion indicates this and it’s been politicised.

I regularly fly to China. I used to take Virgin Atlantic, but switched to British Airways last year due to Branson's strident position on Brexit. I have met several other frequent flyers who have done the same.

I guarantee this decision will be quietly reversed in the coming weeks, but using their Government-backed monopoly to make political statements is unacceptable.

Overreacting much? Virgin haven't "banned" anything, they just aren't selling it on the trains and haven't done since November. They sold one copy, for every four trains that stocked it, 70 copies a day It being a hate filled rag, is just an aside

Unfortunately Mail readers don't have any choice but the authoritarian left can choose whether they read the paper or not. Whatever happened to freedom of speech.
-
Maybe they could, ooh, I don't know, buy it before they get on the train. Like readers of the Guardian, The Sun, Telegraph etc etc have to as they're not stocked either.

The crux of my whole problem with what they have done is they are not just another private company doing what they like. They are effectively being contracted to have a monopoly on service provision on that line. No political posturing should be a condition of the franchise.
