Oh, and further - Worboys was eligible parole at halfway point, therefore 8th year out of 16yr tariff. This rule was introduced in 1991, under govt of John Major, while Home Sec was Kenneth Baker.

The rule was introduced to reduce prison overcrowding. If you want to keep prisoners in longer, you will need to pay more taxes for more prisons and more prison officers. LOTS of them.

Perhaps you could go back to 1991 when the Tories introduced early release as a cost cutting measure in response to public outrage, and let John Major know.

Not sure twitter was a thing then. I was at university. I have written and spoken on air many times about the need for longer sentencing.
