Please stop shrieking at us! We didn’t want to leave, we are about the same number as those who did. Stop being so bloody rude to us. Of course we want what’s best for the country. We now need to work together on the detail. SM & CU seems sensible.

In the great scheme of things, “about the same number” is correct. I seem to recall that Sir - sorry! - Mr Nigel Farage said he would campaign for a second vote if the outcome was 48:52 Remain. #shortmemory

Yes. You know full well what the figures are so stop trying that on. It's deceitful. The actions of your government are, in effect, disenfranchising those who did not vote Leave. The proper response to the vote would have been to seek an acceptable compromise but...

Strictly speaking less than 38% of eligible voters chose to Leave in EURef, given that 13M didn't vote. If you want change, you take the once-in-a-generation chance to make that change. The majority did not choose Brexit.

Really? Oh OK. Here's me sat here thinking that an abysmal low-fact high-fear campaign on both sides yielded a marginal advisory result that was rightly being ignored by the MPs we elect to protect our nation's best interests. Silly me, hadn't noticed Brexit happening at all.

When you say 'advisory result' you lose the argument. The gov sent a leaflet to every household saying they would honour the result of the EU REF. From then on it wasn't advisory. I agree with your point about the lies told by both sides but you can't tell people they voted wrong

Who gives a fuck what farage said. He has never and hopefully will never be elected an mp in this country. Despisable. If mistakes where made, then it was by whomever voted the conservatives(cameron) in, a calamity this country may never recover from.

Maths or not there was 1.3 million people who voted leave more than remain. However doesn’t take away from the fact that nobody, including me, you or Julia knew what they were voting for. Brexit is about the most abstract concept people have ever had to deal with.

Are you really saying that the view of a 5 year old or that of a 19 year old who couldn't be bothered to get out of bed should count as a No vote? When ppl speak about a majority obviously they are referring to the franchised who could be bothered to exercise their right to vote.

In a properly conducted constitutional referendum, you have to be sure there Really is sufficient demand for change. For that reason, you compare the vote for change with the total electorate. In those terms, Leave did not meet even a 50% threshold.
