At least @vincecable is honest about what last night’s vote was about: stopping Brexit.https://twitter.com/vincecable/status/941232148798898177 …

Let’s have a general election so the MPs concerned can answer to their voters.

Assuming the vote had been 52-48 in favour of remaining. Can you honestly say that yourself,Farage,Banks and the Tory Eurosceptics would not now be doing everything possible to get another vote?

Can you see the remain side saying "we need to listen, not ignore and come to a deal that takes into account the 48% that voted to leave"?

Agreed. Cable is so in the wilderness and so aged that he can only do his best to undermine democracy and pray Corbyn, the next PM, will need his support in a future coalition.

Cable is a self serving politician who doesn't give two ef's about anyone but himself. Oh god forbid if we take charge of our own borders, make our own laws, decide on who we trade with, reclaim our fishing waters...No leave that to someone else eh!? #idiot

The Government was seen to be against Brexit. It has the Constitutional power to deny the vote and stay tied to EU rule. Instead the Government chose to implement the democratic will of the majority. It cannot now expect to permit anyone or any group to prevent a complete break.

Do trade deals normally require parliamentary votes? If so I believe this isn’t a big, if they don’t normally this is a disgrace.
