It's just not good enough is it? We need to ramp up forcing kids in both genders to make unhappy choices that will affect their entire lives obvs.

The 'gender pay gap' has been debunked time and time again yet we still have people trying to convince us it's true.

I know it's old-fashioned, but if a man and woman marry and raise a family their incomes become joint, as the enterprise of raising a family is joint

tch tch, Julie. Don't you remember the "these jobs are for girls, these jobs are for boys" indoctrination classes?

I work as a manager on a haulage yard. Work long hours on shifts. I don't complain about women who are paid more than me, for doing less hours than me. Just get on with women of the UK. Oh and the car has got a puncture, make sure you change the wheel before I get home!

Oh and by the way. My mate got married the other month. Had their first real argument last week. She wouldn't help him around the house,,,, because she just had her nails done! Modern, empowered women for you

Both boys and girls are still socialised towards (and away from) certain jobs. It's institutional. Do we fully understand why kids make these choices? The article certainly alludes to this. Also jobs that are traditionally 'mens' jobs are paid higher anyway. It's self fulfilling.
-
Ah, I see compulsion on the horizon. You will become a beauty therapist even though you are a young man; forget all that nonsense about the Army! Brave new world indeed.

I've tried for the last few years to convince my daughter to go into engineering. She's decided on a career in child care

Money isn't everything: A recent study by the Stockholm School of Economics showed that women highly outrank men in job satisfaction. I wonder if the "breadwinner" expectation of men forces them to go for money driven careers?
-
This is true for me. As a sole breadwinner for a family, I chose a career that pays well above average. However if money was no issue, I would have chosen a different career for sure.

As a man I am aghast at the gender pay gap in the porn industry. Sexist much?
