Brexit motormouth @JuliaHB1 thinks impact studies are irrelevant - Brexit at any cost then Julia? Utterly clueless #skypapers
-
-
hate to tell you but we never lost our sovereignty - as for democracy, well I’m sorry but the referendum was certainly not democratic - I’m at a loss Julia as to why you are so keen on economic suicide at all costs - almost cult like isn’t it?
-
Sorry, I can’t debate someone who doesn’t understand basic facts
-
I'm afraid you're blind to the facts - that is the problem - you're not interested in facts - it's just 'off the cliff' whatever the consequences - that is an irresponsible position to take, particularly for someone in the public eye.

I suspect that this is the tweet that will come back to haunt you as brexit unravels over the next years.
-
Nope, it’s what we fought world wars for, mate.
-
that's an unbelievable statement Julia - we fought wars to bring peace & peace & prosperity is exactly what the EU stands for. Leaving the EU betrays everything we have fought for.
-
No WW2 was fought to halt German oppression and a Nazi Superstate - oh wait it’s now called the EU. Army coming soon though to stop anyone
of leaving. -
What a sad, narrow-minded view...
-
Sad that you are such a deluded fool. We will have to agree to differ.
-
I think we'll see who the deluded fools are when we crash out of the single market (a British invention) and the Customs Union

Remainers generally have no other argument apart from the economic. They don't understand democracy, let alone the more historic, say emotional aspects of sovereignty.
-
And that shitshow yesterday was democratic? A cabinet minister responsible for our exit that’s done 0 research and lied to HoC. Or has done research which shows brexit so bad they don’t want to publish & lied to HoC. Either way, electorate are being treated like mugs.
-
Totally out of context reply. Con (or any UK gov) can be removed by electoral action = Democracy. Shultz, Barnier, Junker etc cannot. It's not that difficult to grasp.
-
erm I don't think you understand how the EU works - Junker is a civil servant and like our civil servants they are not elected. You elect your MEP just like you elect your MP and you can get rid of them if you don't like them. In fact EU is more democratic than Westminster
-
Rubbish, (excuse my irritation!) we have no chance of getting rid of any of that crowd given our percentage of the vote in the EU 'parliament'.

Treaties, memberships, international relations can all be said to involve some loss of sovereignty, like marriage, friendship, partnership. Try achieving anything at all without foregoing your ability to do something else.
-
No they don't. Which other treaties that we have signed give primacy to a foreign court over domestic legislation? Which other treaties have enabled a foreign court to overturn an Act of Parliament?
-
Even WTO has binding court, but UK acceptance of EU law was Act of Parliament, currently being overturned, tho first act was to take all EU rules into UK law - Great “Repeal” Bill.
-
But you ignore my point that we have many international obligations which bind us even tho parliament could overturn them, including EU law.
-
Name one other international obligation which has the right to directly overrule UK law.
-
In theory The Hague. You tell me which EU laws have adversely affected you.
-
Firstly, no it can't. Secondly...facile. If an Irishman has no dislike for any UK law, does it follow that he would be happy to live under UK law? If so, we may have a found a solution to a problem....
-
Ireland - UK not equivalent to UK - EU, now really is it. I understand you dislike idea of EU authority, but UK among equals there, no colonial baggage etc. I just find your objection very theoretical and more than a little dry.
