Speak for yourself. I for one, would like an extra day leave from work. I don't understand your "choice" part of the statement either!

I'm guessing you get paid for bank holidays then. Many people don't.

It seems Julia believes she speaks to everyone again. I for one am happy to have this a Bank Holiday, in return for the months of boring coverage I will be exposed to.

What a load uf rubbish who are you to dictate what is correct for hard working people?! And we all know who is damaging the economy and its not workers!
-
Nothing to say you'd get an extra day off. Employers can just use the extra BH and reduce your chosen annual leave. 20 days + 8 BH's, or 19 days + 9 BH's still equals 28 days minimum required.
-
Most contracts are as an example "25 days plus bank holidays" so the bank holiday would be an extra day.
-
Perhaps yours is, and mine def is, but I know loads that aren't. From the Gov website :- Bank holidays Bank or public holidays do not have to be given as paid leave. An employer can choose to include bank holidays as part of a worker’s statutory annual leave.
-
Yeah and they are utter bastards! But that would be a typical British master & servant attitude
