If a shop’s customers voice their displeasure at a shop doing business with another organisation it would be fairly thick to ignore this.

No, there is nothing wrong with a shop advertising in a newspaper. Just because customers don't like the editorial line of that newspaper, it doesn't mean the shop should apologise. This is censorship and it's dangerous.
