@JuliaHB1 Any idea about the complex problems that families face in this country? If you get your food from food banks there isn’t much choice. Education+support is the answer to childhood obesity, silly statements about punitive measures is not.@SkyNews #PressPreview

Nothing to do with virtue signalling whatsoever, convenient to write off valid points in this way though. It’s actually called having empathy and being aware of the difficulties that families face with regards to nutrition, health and socio-economic status.

I’m guessing you’ve never been to a foodbank. Actually there IS plenty of choice in many food banks and the food is largely healthy. So what is your point ?

Point: Childhood obesity is a multi-faceted public health problem that requires intervention on many different levels. Stating on TV that parents should be jailed is unhelpful and simply spreads a misinformed stigma. To put it simply.

No, making your child obese is a form of child abuse and should be treated as such. There is no excuse for it.

Unhelpful to whom? It might help the kids who are going to die 10 years early because doctors like you are too squeamish to tell their parents they’re killing them slowly with food?

Obesity is a complex health problem, issues around behaviours, relationship with food etc. It’s not about being squeamish- it’s about recognising the drivers behind the behaviours and solving the problem from the root with sensitivity and compassion.

Yes, we all know that. But what a parent puts into a child’s mouth isn’t about that. It’s just crappy, lazy, selfish parenting. They already know what they’re doing is wrong.

I find it disappointing that you use your platform to spread this kind of misinformation. To return to your comments on #PressPreview though: jailing the parents of children suffering with obesity will help how exactly? Answer:it wouldn’t. Absolute logically incoherent nonsense.

I find it disappointing that someone at the BMA should talk such nonsense. Children don’t suffer from obesity. It’s not a disease. Their parents over feed them, usually with unhealthy food. Simple.

Problem with Julia is the same problem with katie Hopkins .They both gamble that having contempt or condescension for others and boost their ego and bank balance..But " want all lose all " .A little bit of humility is required

Sonetimes you cant see it fir yourself .Unfortunately Katie Hopkins has taken path that may flow with riches but pitfalls may destroy her mentally and her in private life. Dont follow that path It is good to step back sometimes listen to others rather than talk over them

Obesity is a national epidemic not restricted to food bank recipients. Parent need to receive counseling for ‘at risk’ kids. It’s a lifetime sentence of misery for those kids and vey unhealthy
