Life is hard for all of us at some point and sometimes it overwhelms us. That doesn't mean we all suffer from mental illness and to try to pretend that we do actually demeans the terrible difficulties people with real mental health issues go through.

Spot on, well said.

It's no wonder there are no resources available in mental health services for those with real problems if everyone is going along claiming mental illness for something so minor that people used to be able see through by themselves. It's nothing but selfish.

Defining all forms of mental distress as illness distracts from the devastation caused by severe conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

It's the flexible definition that can be confusion, is unhappiness depression & therefore mental illness? Most people get over it, others seek attention & treatment, depends on many factors including availability of services

Depends how you define mental illness. It’s actually quite normal to feel down & anxious at times. Its abnormal to expect joy and happiness 24/7. So before I RT, how do you define mental illness?

You do this ALL the time! Respond to your version of what people say rather than what they actually say. She said “the myth that it’s only 1 in 4.” She did NOT say ‘a myth that we haven’t ALL been affected.” You claim she says 60 odd million when she actually said > 15 million
