When I last interviewed Robert Mugabe in 1999, it was $1 to 30 Zimbabwe dollars. Ten years later I paid $5 for this 100,000,000,000,000 ZimDollar banknote pic.twitter.com/wEtuWZ86Uz

In the 1970's & even with International Sanctions on Rhodesia (Zim), £1 = 1 or 2 Rhodesian Dollars. This at a time when The Labour Govt were destroying the UK Economy, 90% tax, Exchange Control. Meanwhile, the Rhod Economy grew 1,000%. Then the UK HANDED Rhod to Buthcher Mugabe.

Mugabe might be old but he's a tyrant responsible for so much violence, poverty, hunger, destruction of a beautiful country that was the bread-basket of Africa.

Mugabe economics. Simply print bank notes with extra zeroes on the end and give to your cronies.

I'd love to know out of 54 African countries, what did each leader have in personal bank account before assuming office and how much after 1yr 5yrs 10 yrs. And which leader stepped down after two terms? The continent's fiefdom sadly continues with grotesque power and greed.

Also. What's with this "He isn't the worst African tyrant in history" - as if the existence of Hitler turned Mussolini into a comparatively splendid chap? An expensive thug & cheap murderer.
