Oh no! Restaurants and hotels are going to have to pay higher wages and hire Brits to do their work. How awful!https://twitter.com/jamesmcgrory/status/930398888254758914 …

Absolutely spot on here from none other than Gary Neville. Our hospitality industry is one of many sectors facing a Brexodus of EU workers. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/4910327/gary-neville-says-its-a-scandal-that-brexit-is-driving-foreign-restaurant-and-hotel-workers-away-from-the-uk/ …

This is true, and good in itself. But the cost is likely going to be passed on to the rest of us consumers though no? There is a real concern about falling real wages here surely...

So we will have to pay more for stuff we buy, instead of paying more taxes to fund tax credits for those on low wages.

I don't feel it's an unfair point you're making but I think many are concerned that the benefit isn't so obvious. Exodus means demand created by those workers is lost too. You may be right but I just think that many of us don't see it as quite so clear that this is beneficial...

Your tweet just confirmed to people what an idiot you are. Won’t it also apply to those not on tax credits?

I will be very happy to continue to see foreign workers in the UK - what has to stop is migration to jobs only viable with in-work benefits funded by UK taxpayers
