Oh no! Restaurants and hotels are going to have to pay higher wages and hire Brits to do their work. How awful!https://twitter.com/jamesmcgrory/status/930398888254758914 …

Take your pick of articles http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/record-numbers-eu-citizens-nurses-brexit-quitting-nhs-staffing-crisis-right-to-remain-theresa-ma-a7637176.html … or https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/sep/21/almost-10000-eu-health-workers-have-quit-the-nhs-since-brexit-vote … or http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-41556997 …. In short, you're wrong (or misinformed)
-
Er, I'm not wrong. Official stats. The fall in EU nurse applications was as a result of a much stricter language exam which most failed so they couldn't apply. Next?
-
What you say is false, you are just trotting out things you have heard in Torygraph and right wing press. The harder language test came in January 2016 and decline in EU nurses starts just after referendum if you look at stats from Health Foundation . http://primarycarerecruitment.ie/nmc-english-language-requirements/ …pic.twitter.com/LNTw1i1Tc5

Don’t bother. JHB doesn’t like facts as they disagree with her fantasy world.
-
Yes sure you’re right but I still like to get facts in the thread so that when others read they can see what she says is not right

Not true. These figures are an extract of an article from an informed recruitment industry source.pic.twitter.com/9SYBItY1BK

Only Europe can supply these staff... and we must stay in the EU because of this?

-
No, the world supplies these staff and we've never had enough home grown staff to fill the gaps. Unless policy changes, many specialist and non-specialist staff will be sent home for not earning enough ->http://www.csp.org.uk/news/2017/04/07/visa-earnings-threshold-may-force-non-eu-physios-quit-nhs …
-
You've jumped from a point of Remain scaremongering to a completely different point. A valid one, but visa rules such as these can be changed as needed. Rewarding genuine workers important.
-
Then the government should categorically state that. At present thousands of skilled people in careers that range from nursing to teaching to science are worried about their futures. An example from just this week ->http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/universities-ask-government-help-stop-13898052 …
-
You do realise this is a negotiation the Govt. are in? May has repeatedly said EU nationals should fully expect to retain their rights and status here but it depends on the EU's cooperation. EU need to play ball not just demand bribe money.
-
Ah yes! THOSE negotiations, that are going nowhere fast. The whole thing is a complete mess and while the government dithers, overseas nationals are leaving in their thousands, so worried are they about their shaky, no guaranteed future in the UK.

This is correct and has been confirmed many times by the Government.

You mean Jeremy Hunt's department? Must be true then. The NHS and GMC are obviously lying. Ya think? Really?
-
Have you got something sensible to say?

Oh yes I can see how joyful it must be to come and wipe the arses of the locals and pick their vegetables in the welcoming wonderland that is Brexit Brirain! Anyway i thought immigrants were to blame for the pressure on the NHS? You lot voted in June 2016 to stop immigration!!
