Oh no! Restaurants and hotels are going to have to pay higher wages and hire Brits to do their work. How awful!https://twitter.com/jamesmcgrory/status/930398888254758914 …

Absolutely spot on here from none other than Gary Neville. Our hospitality industry is one of many sectors facing a Brexodus of EU workers. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/4910327/gary-neville-says-its-a-scandal-that-brexit-is-driving-foreign-restaurant-and-hotel-workers-away-from-the-uk/ …

That's a simplistic assertion that belies the truth. The reason foreign nationals work in those sort of jobs is not enough Brits want to do them. Care work, waiting, cleaning, etc. Look at these stats re nurses, midwives etc. and tell me sending foreigners home is the answerpic.twitter.com/pxfLoq8PmC

More EU nationals coming to NHS jobs than leaving them. No one is sending anyone home.

Take your pick of articles http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/record-numbers-eu-citizens-nurses-brexit-quitting-nhs-staffing-crisis-right-to-remain-theresa-ma-a7637176.html … or https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/sep/21/almost-10000-eu-health-workers-have-quit-the-nhs-since-brexit-vote … or http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-41556997 …. In short, you're wrong (or misinformed)

Er, I'm not wrong. Official stats. The fall in EU nurse applications was as a result of a much stricter language exam which most failed so they couldn't apply. Next?

What you say is false, you are just trotting out things you have heard in Torygraph and right wing press. The harder language test came in January 2016 and decline in EU nurses starts just after referendum if you look at stats from Health Foundation . http://primarycarerecruitment.ie/nmc-english-language-requirements/ …pic.twitter.com/LNTw1i1Tc5

This is true, and good in itself. But the cost is likely going to be passed on to the rest of us consumers though no? There is a real concern about falling real wages here surely...

So we will have to pay more for stuff we buy, instead of paying more taxes to fund tax credits for those on low wages.

I came into the EU referendum from hospitality, and Free Movement has allowed that sector to ride roughshod over rules concerning breaks, time between shifts, and even the minimum wage. If its adjustment to life after Brexit is painful, it has only itself to blame.

Also it will put a stop to companies like Amazon shipping over workers directly over from Romania because its cheaper than recruiting over here
