Stop starving them and other state services of cash to pay for tax breaks for the rich then!

Who's doing that?

If so, you wld presumably agree with Gov- taxpayer shld stop subsidising Eton&co(charity status) & properly fund state schools instead

I don't see any good reason for private schools to have charitable status and get tax benefits.
-
Think of it as a small tax rebate to parents paying private school fees and also paying for state schools that they are not using
-
If ppl entitled to a bus pas want to drive in a Rolls-Royce shld they get a tax rebate too? Local sch LOSES money with minimal loss in cost
-
People driving Rolls Royces usually don’t apply for their free bus passes.
-
but the bus service still has to be there ditto the state sch! It costs the sch by losing funds with no reduction in cost!

Then you express outrage that one outperforms the other! Just a chance for you to boast about how well you’ve done from humble beginnings.
-
Not at all. My point is that it is low attainment state schools that are failing bright working class pupils, not Oxbridge.

Garbage, my son went to Cambridge from an excellent state grammar. We need more!
-
I agree 100% Students from working class background with an aptitude to learn can then achieve to a level on par with inde educated pupils. Socialists will not like what I am saying but many LabourMP’s sent their kids private such as Dianne Abbott.
-
And Emily Thornberry, Labour (Lady Nugee) who sent her kids to selective schools some distance away from her £3.5 million home in Islington 1 of 4 expensive properties her and her husband have. That must hurt Momentum.

A harsh & rash conclusion JHB. There's so many other factors: Social, tutoring, time, class size, prep school, culture, differng needs, etc

The figures aren’t quite so stark at sixth form, where the percentage of 16-18-year-olds at Independent Schools is higher.
-
1/3 of the girls at my private school were on assisted places as from poorer backgrounds - but Labour put a stop to all that.
-
Assisted places are wrong. Money should be spent on state schools.
-
That would be fine if they hadn't also abolished grammars. Labour remove opportunities as bright, well-educated people won't vote for them.
-
Grammar schools don't help enough people, all they do is widen the divide https://fullfact.org/education/grammar-schools-and-social-mobility-whats-evidence/ … middle class will always tutor to get in.
-
They helped a lot of working class children, my parents included, achieve a much better life. Jealousy by a few shouldn't stop the others.
-
It's not about jealousy, it's about wanting the best for each and every child, not just the few who can pass an exam at 11.
-
Also, if you read the link I posted, they don't help that much, maybe half a grade by GCSE point.
