16 year olds know nothing about life. If some idiot politician said they would all get free education they would not know it was bullshit.

I understand the point "if you can marry, go to war etc.". But surely that's more a case for raising the age for marriage and war?

Can't be deployed in war, can only marry with parental consent (said relieved mum of teenager....)

Or make people take an IQ test, or prove competency and capacity before voting?

Basically I'm not sure we should lower voting age but do think we need a less dismissive debate on it & the current approach is inconsistent
