For a gov minister to question loyalty, patriotism of young people on basis that they do not support his agenda is aggressive nationalism.
-
It's not about 'support Boris's agenda'. It's that when you wave EU flags, mock your country, identify yourself as an EU citizen etc
-
In return other "people" have a right to ask whether your definition of patriotism is a mask for something darker & distinctly un-British.
-
It's not anyone's definition of patriotism they don't like, they don't like patriotism as a concept. Hence absurdity of then being upset
-
I have a profound love for my country, and I happen to think it will thrive and prosper as part of the EU.
-
But you have a handy formula for completely dismissing my views and concerns by denying that I have any love for my country and its people.
-

-
Didn't say anything about you or you views. What I did say was that there are some (not all) who are not patriotic and evidently despise

I'm alarmed by how many young Brits aren't proud of their country, what's we've achieved, our values, our freedoms etc. It's rather sad.
-
They are. Why do you think so many are protesting against the destruction & belittling of the last 40 years that got us to what we had?
-
Our leadership in Europe. The tolerant open society we have become. How we built from the ashes of empire to be more grown up & responsible
-
The way we faced down long held prejudices, how we've learnt the values of respect, cooperation, shared values. We value our past alright.
-
It's strange to hear you say this because from our view it's you & your ilk who have denigrated & hated what UK has become for decades now
-
Have bitched about how we tolerate others, how we pursue equality & not insulting other people - hates OUR diversity & sees it as a problem
-
How you whine about the choices & direction we have chosen to take the UK.
-
You don't love the UK, you've complained incessantly about how it isn't what you want it to be... what it used to be.
