Or @acgrayling do you think that a vote is only legitimate if the *entire* population is entitled to vote, including children & babies?https://twitter.com/juliahb1/status/906843567326466048 …

So @acgrayling, on that basis, not a single UK government has ever been legitimate as none had the support of 50%+ of the entire population https://twitter.com/acgrayling/status/906658050571878400 …

That's ridiculous. Why don't you at least accept point he's making about % of those entitled to vote, which means only 37% voted to leave EU

Because ALL votes are only ever the votes of those who actually voted. It's meaningless to count anything else. How would you count them?

Agree impossible to get 100% turnout even if legal requirement but would get a much higher turnout.

Which means the vote to remain in the EEC in 1975 was also illegitimate. On that basis, no need for Brexit as we're not even part of the EU

Using Grayling's 'logic' every mayoral, county council, town council, parish council should all be voided. Even X Factor results in doubt!

Pfff what a mess. Surely all the laws and bylaws that have sprung from those elections must also be illegitimate.

As those that didn't vote cede to majority, only 35% voted Remain, so 65% chose Leave.
