Fewer young people getting saddled with £50k debts for a degree that's not worth the paper it's printed on. This is a good news story!https://twitter.com/suttontrust/status/895510045043163136 …

Absolutely, horses for courses. One size doesn't fit all & to imply it does is disingenuous to say the least.

A degree in knitting isn't worth a fiver - A degree in media studies is worth even less.

Most if not all evidence gathered shows, in general, having a degree significantly boosts lifetime earnings. Not a good trend.

Evidence flawed as it is based on when fewer, more intelligent ppl went to uni, the top 10% that did would earn more irrespective of uni

Yes-the top 50% will earn more whether they go to uni or not. Real Q -will they earn more than they would have done if left school to work

Blair, Major etc sold the idea of degrees for all as 'obviously' a good thing. All it's done is devalue them in the job market, created debt

At one time in this country companies used to pay to train you to do a job, now kids have to get into a lifetime of debt to get a job.
