This sort of research you mean? Perhaps you could list your sources (if you have any) https://www.rcplondon.ac.uk/projects/outputs/every-breath-we-take-lifelong-impact-air-pollution …

Yep, it's equivalent deaths, i.e. 65mill people over their lifetimes lose 30 days on average in a care home. That's not 40,000 deaths a year
-
Agree it's a simplification, but your summary is simply wrong. Reasons '30 days in a care home lost' is not good way of looking at it...
-
1. Ignores lifetime of sub deadly health effects, Inc respiratory, cognitive and weight 2. Over emphasises average. Effects are not...
-
... Uniformly distributed. Eg mortality data on ppl with pollution exacerbated asthma like me & my son. We lose years on life expectancy.

Global warming/climate change is debatable. Pollution certainly isn't! The crap coming out of cars is something we need to see the back of.

I think public transport has a place, but it's not great. Electric cars are the future; but not convinced about battery powered.

2 possibilities (I'm guessing): 1. use of expensive materials for catalysis 2. all the smart research money gone on batteries

My old Toyota Yaris had better fuel efficiency at the time than a Prius, as I recall! As, I suspect, does my current 3-cylinder 1l Alto...

I'm more concerned about when and where they are going to start building the many new power stns and how they'll be fuelled
-
The new power stations to power the 2040 electric car revolution will hang from clouds and run on unicorn farts.
-
the 7pm "home form work" power surge - houses power will dip. Where to park if you dont have a drive or the old man beats you to it.....
-
In fairness, that's current technology. IFF battery costs fall, it might be possible to have more than one, e.g. one in car, one on charge.
-
What about people who dont have garages? I'm still wondering about all the power stations required - they need to start building them now!
-
At the rate we're going, we won't be able to generate what we need now pretty soon, never mind the extra demand from e-cars.
-
I havent read everything about this, but from what I have read - its yet another silly plan that hasnt been thought through at all!
-
Ya think? :-) Well it certainly wasn't in the Tory manifesto, so it's off the back of a napkin at a boozy BEIS lunch in all likelihood.
