And cue sighs of relief from right of centre folk who actually went to Grammars in the 60s & know they weren't all that good either.

Let's build new, modern schools and staff them with bright, enthusiastic teachers and worry about what to call them a bit less.

I think we've been doing that since the 1960s. And how's that working out?

The pro grammar school argument would have more credibility if it wasn't dishonestly & incorrectly hitched to fortunes of poorer kids
-
No, the ANTI grammar school argument would have more credibility if it wasn't dishonestly & incorrectly hitched to fortunes of poor kids.

The data & research don't back your notions. Self-defeating to keep using bogus args of poorer kids attainment or opponents parents choices
-
Argument that new grammar areas will outrun both mobility & motivation of better off parents is at best wishful. Better to admit trade-offs

Which ones?

So that's one. The vast majority went to comprehensives, send there kids the same and have done fantastically well.
-
it's THEIR. Which says it all really
-
It does, I am but a failure in life because I said there instead of their!
-
Not a failure, just differently abled. Streaming clearly doesn't sop up all the spillage.
-
I'll keep trying!
