Indeed. They have a choice. Which makes service of our monarch all the more honourable. But it's still what is represented.
No member of the monarchy is forced to fulfill their role.
You can argue whether or they are born into a duty but, in any case, She is the Head of State and should be respected.
I respect her insofar as she's a fellow human. I don't believe in a monarchy, so where does the notion of 'should' come from? Genuine Q.
Not believing in the monarchy is like not believing in the pavement. It's there whether you believe in it or not and you're walking on it.
Don't play childish semantics. I don't believe it should exist in 21st century Britain.
Point is, monarchy DOES exist, has MASSIVE popular legitimacy & support, HM is the LAWFUL Head of State, & that reality should be respected.
Why do you need to bow your head to someone to show respect to them?

The Queen represents fuck all. She has no powers of government. It's Parliament that represents the nation. Queen is just a figurehead.
And tell us oh wise one, what function do you think a figurehead has if not to represent the nation. (rolls eyes)

and judges don't work for 65 years serving the country
That's not the point. She is the Head of State.

I'm sure many judges aren't born from working class stock. More like privately educated people from generations of wealth, so yes they do
fair point actually. The law is unremittingly middle class - mostly due to the costs of training: £50k in my case.
