Some 16/17 year olds not mature enough. Some of all generations not in full possession of faculties (or facts). Should we stop them voting?

My 17 year old son has miles more sense than my parents in law. Same is true of his friends too.
-
We have to accept that some 16/17 year olds will be influenced by parents etc but that isn't a reason not to let them vote.
-
My impression is they are very well educated, open minded and reasonable.

They are too easily manipulated is the real reason why they shouldn't have the vote at that young age. This was demonstrated recently.

With the greatest of respect, we must not assume that 17 year-olds now are exactly like we were....if you catch my drift!
-
To be honest, the thought of a 16yr old me voting, is borderline terrifying!
-
You would know best, of course. But 12 months could have worked wonders...and obviously did!

You'll be opposing British armed forces recruitment of under-18s, then?

It is simply another way of importing votes for the Liberal left as they know once peeps go out to work, they seem to grow up!!

Most 16 year olds will become 18 year olds within the next 2 years.

"No taxation without representation" and in reverse "no representation without taxation" ?
-
I agree entirely. If you pay your taxes you get to vote. This would include the 16 year old in their first job and exclude tax dodgers
-
Isn't it now law that one stays in education to 19 ?
-
In which case you would not earn over the tax threshold.
-
So you're advocating apprenticeships and trainee schemes that pay so poorly that they don't even pay tax? You're silent on tax dodgers I see
-
You read too much into what I haven't said. What is the tax threshold at present?
-
c£11500 I believe
