New Tory policy offering free school breakfasts to all kids. When did it stop being parents' job to feed their kids? #solvingthewrongproblem

kids taken into care if their parents are struggling? you really are all heart aren’t you.
-
Children are badly damaged by drug/drink addict parents. Leaving them with addicts & feeding them at school isn't the solution. Better to...
-
tory austerity cuts on social services budgets won’t help either. while we debate kids go hungry.
-
I don't agree with those cuts and have said so publicly many times. But that doesn't stop parents feeding their kids.
-
You prob don’t know much about the DWP sanction culture. A miracle some parents manage to feed their kids when benefits stopped.
-
No, I've only spent years researching, writing and broadcasting about it, interviewing experts, talking to people who work in benefits ...
-
so if you’re an expert on sanctions/DWP you should know that some people can’t feed their kids because of them.

I don't claim to be an expert but I know about this than you assume. Some people are in that situation but very very few. Again, still...

Julia you need to get someone like
@dez_holmes on yr show: who can explain the finely tuned evidence about outcomes for children re removal -
Their outcomes are poor because of their home family lives and experiences before they go into care. Ex Barnardo's chief makes that point.
-
You were, understandably, cross about 'fortune' spent on breakfasts - care is hugely costly. Can change lives - but must be used carefully
-
If families demonstrably unable to provide safety of course care may be essential, but missing breakfast -> remove child is a hell of a leap!

Do you have a similar problem with parents who send kids off to boarding school at 7 or 8 and give no parental support til they reach adult?

If you are able to source more foster Carers then perhaps those children could be removed, but reality is,there isn't enough placements ..
-
... for our existing children in care. Please don't stereotype parents for not being able to feed their children
