As Juncker, Barnier et al have made blatantly clear in the past week, they are NOT our friends. They despise us and our democratic vote.https://twitter.com/timfarron/status/859831361024270340 …

No European MEP made their name by open hostility to the UK as UKIP did. No EU country held a vote to evict UK.

UK had more opt-outs than any other country. Euro, Shengen, etc. They didn't event make UK put up EU flags over EU funded roads and ports.

No French tabloid ever insulted a UK politician ("up yours DeLors" etc.) nor were EU population lied to about UK derived laws they adopted.

Many UK institutions (NHS and legal system) are held in very high esteem in Europe, as is the research community - especially medicines.

It is not unusual to find union jack adorned clothing and handbags in European stores.

I realise you are paid to voice an opinion, and that this means reading the Daily Mail headlines but a tiny bit of research would help you.

Do you genuinely think I don't know all of those scintillating facts? What is your point?

I think you do know all those scintillating facts but you choose blatantly to ignore them in forming your scintillating opinion.

The question that arises then is why do you throw out this opinion, knowing (as you do) that the facts don't support it - who benefits?

Unfortunately the answer to that is obvious. She benefits, as being obnoxious is a fine replacement for being talented in the current media.

Sad if that is the case. That would seem to be a misuse of a finite existence - it definitely lacks meaning.

I think his point, and it is very well put, is that 'despise us' is vacuous hyperbole.
