Anyone who can pay tax should be able to have a say on where THEIR money goes so why not 16 year olds, they're not all snowflakes

My 10 year old pays VAT on things she buys so she's a taxpayer. Can she vote too?
-
Where did she get the money from, Julia?
-
Birthdays, Xmas, pocket money, the usual....
-
So she didn't earn it?

I'm 100% against it. We have been seeing far too much recently of teachers pushing their views on kids and this could result in big bias.
-
Wouldn't surprise me if teachers have EU flags in every classroom and still flag shame

Almost certain, with the state of universities at the moment I think if anything the age should be increased. Get life experience first.
-
But an 18 yr old has enough life experience & is expected to get into debt bu the tune of £15,000 pa to pay those Uni's loans & fees
-
Is "So what" the best you can come up with?
-
That's the reply I would expect from your 10 year old.
-
They don't start uni until 18. When they are adults. Which is when they can vote. Hence "so what?"

if you are old enough to Work, Marry, Have Children and join the Army... then you are old enough to vote. it's not a hard concept.

Apols, I tweeted an article link soon after

so, parental consent to marriage doesn't apply in Scotland, and I explicitly said "join the army" not "fight for your country".

Understand your point, but there should be parity between age to join military / pay tax and vote . Whether that be 16 or 18
-
Can join military at 16 but not frontline. Education now full time til 18. Can't marry without parents' permission etc. They're not adults.
