those studies are all about 1950s system or current system with a tiny number of grammars. Hardly useful for what is now proposed.

It also remains curious that grammar school opponents welcome selection at 18 but not at 11 (and then send their kids to non-comps to boot).

because 18 is a fair representation of ability rather than 11 which is a measure of development.

But could quite allow entry in later years too. In German system there is no 11 plus...

Fine. Make it 14+. But find the data that proves it benefits the many First otherwise comprehensive will always be better.

Comprehensives are divisive, they have "streaming", putting children into top / middle / bottom sets for subjects like maths.
