If Labour think new grammar schools will be so awful for social mobility, why are they happy to allow the existing grammar schools to stay?

The only consistent view against grammars is one in which ALL selective state schools are abolished. And that includes faith schools too.

Abolishing faith schools makes no sense given their better performance. Give parents a voucher for a school place, poor schools would close.

Yes Grammars do perform but to argue faith schools should be abolished makes no sense and won't improve outcomes as LEAs struggle with cuts.

Did I hear correctly, the problem is about half of pupils come from richer than average homes. Sounds like a normal distribution to me!

Perhaps they think fondly of the grammar school which they were fortunate enough to attend?
