They do worry about that too. Which you know.

I wish that was true. Sadly, there is more anger about grammar schools than about the abject failures of comps which have existed for years
-
I know you have a radio show to do, but that's nonsense.
-
We are a rich country and yet huge numbers of children under-achieve in comps and have done for decades. Explain that.
-
I know you care too. But this policy just stops them addressing the real issues of under-achievement.

And creating grammar schools will help them...how?

Why should the primary purpose of grammar schools be to help kids on free school meals?

It would do you good to be a fly-on-the-wall in an average Comp for just one week. Guaranteed you will be shocked.
-
I went to a comp. What would shock me?
-
It's not all about academic credentials..drive and aptitude that's the key to success.my son went to comp ,now a very successful businessman
-
I never made that claim. We were talking about academic performance, and why Comps don't deliver. Blaming the schools isn't justified.
-
It doesn't matter if it's a comp or grammar, ultimately it's down to ones attitude to learning..& nothing to do with wealth
-
Which is exactly the point that I was making; get the attitudes right, and the rest follows. I didn't mention wealth either.

I was the last of the O-Level generation. I was expected to, and did, get 10. I'm concerned that standards so low as to only expect 5 GCSE
-
successive Government policies fixation on 5 A to C including Eng and Maths has not helped as schools work towards that indicator
