Shouldn't be a right to increase prices of holidays in school breaks either. Holidays are important, people shouldn't be priced out.

what? Private companies shouldn't be able to charge the price the market can bear? Of course they should!
-
Some holiday prices increase by 4 times just because it's the school holidays. No surprise people would rather go to court - cheaper!
-
simple laws of supply and demand. Actually they just CUT their prices the rest of the time.

In an ideal world, yes. But there is an element of profiteering from a captive market. Penalties to parents makes gov a bit complicit .
-
going away on holiday isn't a human right
-
Didn't say it was, but it can be beneficial for kids and penalising/preventing kids from going doesn't seem particularly necessary to me.
-
It was never an issue when I was at school, and it did me no harm whatsoever. The impact of missing a week of school is zero, long term.

Last week of term my son watched DVDs at school and got no actual homework. He's 100% attendance last five years btw, but what's he missing?
-
It's so the teachers can have an easy week & wind down for the holidays
-
Given some of the kids at his school I bet the poor devils need an easy week!
