I'll be talking to Jon Platt on @talkRADIO. He's teaching his kids a bad lesson in life. School isn't optional & DisneyWorld isn't a right.https://twitter.com/bbcbreaking/status/849908129185837056 …

Shouldn't be a right to increase prices of holidays in school breaks either. Holidays are important, people shouldn't be priced out.

what? Private companies shouldn't be able to charge the price the market can bear? Of course they should!

Some holiday prices increase by 4 times just because it's the school holidays. No surprise people would rather go to court - cheaper!

In an ideal world, yes. But there is an element of profiteering from a captive market. Penalties to parents makes gov a bit complicit .

Didn't say it was, but it can be beneficial for kids and penalising/preventing kids from going doesn't seem particularly necessary to me.

It was never an issue when I was at school, and it did me no harm whatsoever. The impact of missing a week of school is zero, long term.
