My @talkradio interview with hypocritical Tory MP, who opposes grammar schools but sends own kids to grammars, makes the newspapers today...pic.twitter.com/fmzizozAV7

.@JuliaHB1 huh? The removal of bright (and/or rich) pupils will make comps worse, however good they were to start with.
no, it will expose how bad they already are, currently disguised by higher achievement of bright pupils
if you take away any schools brightest pupils the results will drop. That's logical.
in what way does that make a comp worse? Kids don't get to share out the average grade.
loss of inspirational staff to new schools, loss of money spent on new schools. Further demoralised staff.
those problems not intrinsic to the issue. All can be resolved. Why would staff be demoralised?
Take away best pupils, parents and staff. You think that has no affect?
those teachers can't be very nice people if they have no interest in least able pupils. That's like doctors only...
many reasons for teachers oppose grammar schools. Fear of exposing incompetence not one of them. #proud2workinstatecomp
I didn't use the word "incompetence", did I?
could reasonably be implied.
not at all. Low aspiration, low expectations, difficulty of teaching so many different abilities in same class etc
not true of many comps. Where it is failing 2 get into grammar won't raise aspirations or make it easier 2 teach disaffected kids.
Strange logic from @JuliaHB1. The outcomes for some children are the fault of the school, the others' outcomes despite the school.
both school & home matter. Nothing strange about the logic.
Come and see a fantastic comp with 52% deprivation. Be interviewed by them in our TV studio - I promise you will change your view
so when a bright kid does well in a state school, that is nothing to do with the school?
Only grammar pupils do well because of their schools. Comp pupils only do well "despite" their schools
errr no, it will expose how much worse secondary moderns are to comps & how much worse off the majority of kids will be
