It does. The fact that nearly 50% of Oxbridge students went to private school shows that it is very much elitist

no, it shows that state schools are not delivering enough of the highest grades to their pupils.

Which comes down to funding which state schools dont have.

no it doesn't. I went to 6 state schools and my daughter goes private. It's the attitude and expectations that matter

good head at schools in poor areas are now delivering top class results without any extra money.

There r certainly exceptions but idea that funding isnt an issue is ridiculous otherwise state pupils wd have higher % at Oxbridge

@IndyVoices@Independent my grandad was at Cambridge before the war and as an old man he spoke of the rampant elitism that existed -
"before the war" being the key words there.

I went to Oxford from a comp and witnessed very little snobbery there. It's academically elitist, which is fine by me
