Questions to ask people who oppose grammar schools: 1. what kind of school did they attend? 2. what kind of school do their children attend?

People who are opposed to grammars often: Went to private schools Send their own kids to schools that select by the backdoor (1/2)

(2/2) Can afford to buy a home in a good catchment area Send their kids to comps but pay for private tutors. Talk about "inequality" a lot.

that's such a terrible stance to take. You're comparing personal and national strategies as a like for like.

I don't think its hypocritical to get the best for your child while also wanting the system to help as many others as possible.

no, if you think selective schools are wrong as a policy for everyone, you can't then send your own child to a selective school

they pay into the system then spend extra on their child's education. Not like they opt out financially. They prerogative

Indeed the state education system is underfunded and we need to increase taxation eg by removing private schools' tax exemption.

Lets keep it simple then. Grammars are better academically but 11+ is bad.

yes it does. Academic selection makes improvement much much harder. Hardens social divides and expectations.
