Why does Nick Robinson keep saying having the EUref was not necessary? It was demanded by the British people & in the Tory manifesto!
-
-
you don't seem to have anything tangible to back up your claim though
-
where was the demand for a Scottish independence referendum? And the one for AV? Any evidence for those?
-
at the end of the day, aren't these all political decisions? & Cameron did this for reasons of internal party management.Backfired

There wasn't a demand to have a referendum on Europe? 17m wanted out, but we didn't 'need' a referendum? You mad?
-
don't think people a) voted strictly on issue of EU membership, b) abreast of all the facts. For lot of folk it was a protest vote
-
Protesting against the EU. If you really think that the UK was happy with its relationship with Europe you are miles away
-
what were/ are your main problems with membership of the EU?
-
Sovereignty, regulation, control, cost, forced integration - Europe is generally moving in the wrong direction economically
-
fair enough. I think Cameron was reckless in holding a referendum, but obviously we don't agree on that.
-
He looks reckless now, he dug his own grave. But he gained a majority government with a manifesto pledge to hold a ref.
