Mum on tube with 3 kids, one having tantrum, loudly wailing. After 2 stops, I shouted: "Hey, kid, sit down and shut up". Guess what he did?

Yep, you guessed it: he sat down and was quiet. It really isn't complicated, people. In my day we'd have got a wallop for that behaviour.

In your day child abuse didn't get reported and women were told their place was in the kitchen so that's no recommendation

yes, and those things were bad. But the ability of parents to get their kids to behave in public was definitely much better

Maybe but don't agree with using violence to subdue your children A raised voice or inducements should be enough IMO

The best bit was the right-on woman onlooker who angrily told me it was not my business to tell the child off. Hmmm. Bet her kids are a joy.

The mother of the wailing kid, incidentally, said and did nothing. Which was kind of the problem in the first place.

Yet the right on woman doesn't see the hypocrisy of telling you it's not your business when it's not her business to tell you that
