@JuliaHB1 surely it is how children are prepared for these tests? If they are taught well & supported by parents they shld not be anxious.

@CressidaBurnet@JuliaHB1 Parents go on about it as if it is a big thing for them to be worried about. So the kids then worry about it. :)

@JuliaHB1 But not at KS1. Late borns/slower developers are at significant disadvantage, which then has long term effects. -
@ThornfieldHall on the contrary, the tests expose the extra help they need -
@JuliaHB1 Kids born in August vs kids born in September don't need extra help. They need freedom/time to develop without 'failing'. -
@ThornfieldHall@JuliaHB1 Education is not about "freedom to develop without failing". It is preparation for academic excellence. -
@Watchergotcha@JuliaHB1 Sad...education means to lead out...even the less capable. Academic excellence is limited measure of achievement. -
@ThornfieldHall@JuliaHB1 You instil what you can, to each pupil. Schools are not nursery play time until university. -
@Watchergotcha@JuliaHB1 'Instilling what you can' is a pathetic objective. Schools should be preparing for life & job market. -
@ThornfieldHall@JuliaHB1 Indeed, that is what I am referring too. You seemed to be suggesting that's those "less capable" need a time out. - 6 more replies

@JuliaHB1 How did we manage to learn grammar and spelling without these tests? Finland's experience seems to indicate otherwise.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
