@AlbertoNardelli @JananGanesh yeah, God forbid that the German people would get to have a say, huh?

@JuliaHB1 @JananGanesh You misunderstood the point. Problem aren't voters - current situation has been caused by inaction of other govts

@AlbertoNardelli no, you said Merkel was right in her actions but her decision to open the door has only made the refugee problem worse!

@JuliaHB1 The crisis is caused by people fleeing war. Countries then choose whether to welcome refugees or not. I think they should.

@AlbertoNardelli that's where we disagree &where the German people may end up disagreeing with Merkel as she didn't bother to ask them first

@JuliaHB1 1) problem is other countries just turning their backs to crisis 2) some issues are bigger than popularity. This is one of those.

@AlbertoNardelli no, the back turning was done when Europe decided it was fine for Assad to bomb his own people and we would do nothing.

@JuliaHB1 I agree with you on that actually, but you can't turn back time and it doesn't change the fact there is a refugee crisis today.

@AlbertoNardelli yes, but the solution is not to open Europe up to millions of Syrians etc, but to enable them to return to their homes
