SNP MP confusing "earning" a salary as an MP and "earning" state benefits in the form of tax credits. Worrying economic illiteracy.

@JuliaHB1 What is worrying is that we have Journalists who are determined not to understand what she meant and use it to make cheap points!

@pelliott1954 no, I understood precisely what she meant - she equated the two, not me.

@JuliaHB1 State benefits support those who can't earn because their MP's, who do earn, don't do enough to create jobs for them.

@moonman1873 MPs don't "create jobs". Entrepreneurs and businesses do.

@JuliaHB1 MP's are responsible for creating conditions that attract "entrepreneurs & business" - therefore responsible if they fail to do so

@JuliaHB1 SNP MP is correct, how can someone understand on £74 k tell people on £11K that they should live on less income

@stepneyboy1 no, because you don't "earn" tax credits. They don't need to be worse off, they could work longer hours.

@JuliaHB1 @shornecliff All the SNP MPs are like that: see eg the ongoing controversy abt Police Scotland having to pay VAT.

@JuliaHB1 There are working people in the UK, if they earned £9 ph. they would still be worse off if tax credit cuts are implemented
