@JuliaHB1 @SecModerns Why do you need different buildings for different needs?

@abbyaug@SecModerns so shall we train our Olympic athletes alongside people who are no good at sport and expect them to excel? Yes or no? -
@JuliaHB1 so it's acceptable to consign children to inferior education because they fail an exam at 11. -
@littlejo34 absolutely not. Not inferior or superior, just education suited to their academic ability and potential. -
@JuliaHB1 how can their potential be decided at such an early age? I failed the exam but later obtained a Masters degree. -
@littlejo34@JuliaHB1 same 11+ failure M.Sc now, so much for potential.

@JuliaHB1@SecModerns My children have not been failed by comprehensives- they have all had very different abilities and thrived. -
@abbyaug have you seen what the academically selective schools are teaching kids now? Years ahead of comp schools. -
@JuliaHB1 A good comprehensive has top sets equivalent to grammar school - they are just in same building. -
@abbyaug yes, a GOOD comp does, but most don't. -
@JuliaHB1 So why not improve all comprehensives? Why lump them all together as if they are the same? Some are excellent.

@JuliaHB1 You must recognise that, in areas with grammars, those two issues are directly linked - End of conversation

@JuliaHB1 Until the rich & privileged are obliged to send their kids to comps the resources needed to raise standards won't be forthcoming. -
@urbanfox93 it's not just about money, it's about teaching standards and expectations, which have nothing to do with money. -
@JuliaHB1 Indeed. Shame those with wealth/influence who opt out have little vested interest in putting this right.
