Working Tax Credit Question: wouldn't many families claiming WTC be better off if they just worked the same hours most other families work?

@JuliaHB1 but you imply that those working less do so out of choice, I'm sure some do, but not all. It's not that simple. -
@edujdw some do, some don't. For many, it is a personal choice. -
@JuliaHB1 for many parents there's no choice e.g after your own child, you're shamed into work ASAP even though it's educationally poor -

@JuliaHB1 but why can we not support parents to look after young children as it is educationally beneficial would solve a lot of probs. -

@JuliaHB1 my issue is the current mantra of 'ditch your child ASAP' for a job, not 'work' to create a strong family Base that benefits all. -

@thebigpblog I would not be 100% in favour of no nursery. It can be very positive, but requires good parenting to complement.

@JuliaHB1 ideally I'd prefer employers paying a wage that doesn't require WTC. The new 'living' wage will not achieve that. - End of conversation
