@JuliaHB1 Would you seriously want to reverse all ECHR-dependent changes in English law? Are you really against, for example, gay equality?

@JackofKent absolutely not but there's no reason why that legal protection needs the Human Rights Act -
@JuliaHB1 Have you actually ever read the Human Rights Act? -
@JackofKent I realise that you are the legal expert, not me, but protection of our human rights in the UK does not require ECHR. -
@JuliaHB1 Again: have you actually ever read the Human Rights Act? Simple yes or no. -
@JackofKent have I read every single word of it, no. But what diff does that make to the fact that our human rights don't depend on ECHR? -
@JuliaHB1 If you have read it, which actual provisions of the Act do you disagree with? -
@JackofKent I don't disagree with any of the rights contained in it, I just dispute that we only have them BECAUSE of the HRA. We don't. - 6 more replies

@JuliaHB1 There is always one person who says this daft thing. -
@JackofKent except it's not daft at all, is it? -
@JuliaHB1 See my subsequent tweet. A number of legal changes have require reliance on ECHR? Are you against them all? -
@JackofKent there is no need for a reliance on ECHR

@rfesteadman@JuliaHB1 so which part of this do you not agree with?pic.twitter.com/4fMhVCJHrU

@tb2805
@rfesteadman why would I disagree with any of it? My issue is with those human rights being grounded in ECHR, not our own courts -
@JuliaHB1@rfesteadman you mean the ECtHR? ECHR is the the European Covention on Human Rights. Because too many of our courts make perverse
