Labour will lose the brains, drive & ideas of many bright young people who won't now go into politics because the career prospects so bad.

@JuliaHB1@KulganofCrydee Labour isn't a career development programme for privileged few, but a party that promotes change for common good. -
@Ultra_Fox@KulganofCrydee you can only deliver change if you're elected to office. Otherwise, it's just a book club.

@JuliaHB1 would you not join a party that matches your values? -
@SBlack25893220 joining a party is rather different from trying to become an MP for that party and pinning your future career on it -
@JuliaHB1 you'd still like to think that even an mp's value set would guide him/her to the right home? -
@SBlack25893220 I would question their good judgement. -
@JuliaHB1 easier to rise within labour than tories at present was my point. And electoral preference changes over time for various reasons

@JuliaHB1 It is probably the best time to join ... -
@theJeremyVine@JuliaHB1 Well, Tony Blair & Gordon Brown were both elected in Labour's darkest hour back in 1983. As was Jeremy Corbyn. ;-) -
@melody_player@theJeremyVine but few thought Labour faced a decade or more in the wilderness in 1983, did they? Today is different.

@JuliaHB1 the bright young things who joined the Tories at their lowest ebb under IDS are looking pretty shrewd today. -
@JerryTaylor yeah but at that time no one thought the Tories were facing a decade in the wilderness -
@JuliaHB1 true. Every informed person thought the Tories would be many decades in the wilderness. 2007 crisis changed everything.
