Because, last time I looked, most of those people have been refugees for some years now and very few Brits seemed to care until now.

Haven't or have
@JuliaHB1? SkyNews flopped their interview with a 'refugee' unequivocally an economic migrant looking 4 a better life in EU.

@JuliaHB1 But you don't even seem to want *Britain* to take refugees (never mind house any yourself). I think *that's* pretty heartless, yes -
@StrictlySid so not offering my home, with an 8 yr old child, to complete strangers is proof of being "heartless", is it? You're an idiot. -
@JuliaHB1 I didn't say that. I said not wanting BRITAIN to take refugees (which your other tweets imply) is pretty heartless, yes. -
@JuliaHB1 Certainly wouldn't expect you to take any into your own home. Lovely gesture from those who can/do but not faesible for most. -
@StrictlySid sorry I misunderstood. not saying we shouldn't take any refugees, just that 1k 10k or even 100k doesn't resolve problem for all -
@JuliaHB1 No probs. It's still 1k or 10k or 100k fewer people in a desperate situation. Of course we need to address the root cause as well. -
@StrictlySid yes, and worthwhile for that alone. But actually taking refugees encourages more to make dangerous crossing & costs more lives - 2 more replies

@JuliaHB1 Your sarcasm sums you up perfectly. I suggest you think before you support military intervention, which destabilises countries -
@urbanwarrior67 yeah, we wouldn't want to destabilise Syria, would we? -
@JuliaHB1 Cameron supporting so-called "rebels" in Libya and Syria helped cause the mess in that region. They supported Muslim fanatics -
@urbanwarrior67 yeah we shouldn't support movements for democracy in those counties, should we? Leave them to rot in tyrannical regimes, eh? -
@JuliaHB1 Tyrannical regimes? Do you mean UK allies like S Arabia Bahrain and Egypt? This had nothing to do with helping people get democracy

@PaulKingsley16@JuliaHB1 Point of fact. I own two homes. I suppose that's crime. -
-
@PaulKingsley16@IainDale that really doesn't necessarily follow and is typical of the nonsense being talked about this.
