@pmvine did anyone suggest women were asking for it?
@JuliaHB1 yes Chrissie did? I know she has a book coming out and it's certainly got her some press but at what cost to real victims
@pmvine "real" victims?
@JuliaHB1 real victims in respect that all victims of rape are the real victims, I probably could have wrote that clearer, sorry
@pmvine such as, for example, Chrissie Hynde?
@JuliaHB1 Chrissy Hynde had an awful experience and blames herself like too many victims. Hope a mate has told her it most certainly was not
@bethanyusher she doesn't blame herself for being raped but for putting herself in the vulnerable position of that being possible.
@JuliaHB1 no she doe blame herself actually. She said: 'I'm walking about barely covered....who else's fault would it be?'
@bethanyusher yes, for putting herself in a vulnerable position where a stupid/nasty man could misinterpret her "availability" for sex.
@JuliaHB1 “If I’m walking around in my underwear and I’m drunk? Who else’s fault can it be?” , direct quote from the article
@pmvine the fault she is speaking about is her responsibility not to deliberately put herself in harm's way. Seems sensible to me.
@JuliaHB1 I agree with that,but I have been round women in their underwear and not raped them,its a male problem,it's not the victims
@pmvine of course it's the rapist's problem! But since rapists exist, it's foolish for women to pretend they don't, isn't it?
@JuliaHB1 I see where you're coming from & evrery1 has a personal responsibility but it is a heinous crime & only the perp is to blame
@pmvine did anyone say it wasn't a heinous crime?
@JuliaHB1 Its the blame part that was the important part of that tweet, the crime part is obvious,I will say again only the perp is to blame
@pmvine yes, educating men and boys about attitudes to women is vital, punishing crimes severely etc, but that won't stop ALL rapes ever.
