I've never understood why some people wanting to go to church on a Sunday should mean I can't buy a loaf of bread in a supermarket before 11
@thevicarswife I think many people now do shift work and would rather choose when they spend time together than being told to by the State

@JuliaHB1 Sunday lunch with Grandma is still a big thing in our inner city parish. Families and communities need rhythm. -
@thevicarswife how nice, but why should anyone dictate that to people? -
@JuliaHB1 To put it bluntly there are not as many people willing to work a longer Sunday as there are looking to shop. -
@OzmaLionheart you are very wrong. Plenty of students looking for part time work. -
@JuliaHB1 I've worked it retail 14 years 95% of my friends/acquaintances either in or have worked retail none of which wanted2work Sundays -
@OzmaLionheart then they should have looked for alternative jobs in a different industry. I worked Sats for 7 years, I didn't like it either -
@JuliaHB1 you didn't like it you moved on. I like the Sunday hours I work now I don't want to be forced to work a longer day. -
@OzmaLionheart no, I got a better job elsewhere. Which is what you should do if you don't like the hours you are asked to do, very simple. - 2 more replies

@JuliaHB1 But unless there's a normal day that's not for work these things become almost impossible. -
@thevicarswife I don't think you realise quite how many people routinely work shifts or hours that aren't the typical 9 to 5, Mon to Fri. -
@JuliaHB1 I probably do. But many people are also retired. -
@thevicarswife what's your point? -
@JuliaHB1 Was thinking about Grandma's on Sundays, but I suppose Grandma could also do Tuesday for the 14% of the family on shift work. -
@thevicarswife I couldn't care less what suits your grandma, to be honest. You make your choices but don't impose your God bothering on me. -
@JuliaHB1 Both my grandmas are long since gone. I wasn't inviting you to church! -
@thevicarswife no, but because YOU want to go to church, you think that should mean I can't go to a supermarket. Utterly bizarre. - 2 more replies
