@AlexGMac why are so few of those lorry drivers prosecuted then?
@AlexGMac the deaths involve lorries.
@AlexGMac 6 of 8 women cyclists killed in London so far this year were killed by lorries. Those stats you linked are 4 years old.
@AlexGMac ps. On a different matter, how are you all? X
@AlexGMac great. Enjoying the weather. I think I'm seeing your lovely wife and the rest of the girls very soon.
@JuliaHB1 @AlexGMac because the system is heavily rooted in preserving the licences and sanctity of drivers.
@PedroStephano @JuliaHB1 @AlexGMac perhaps - in part at least - because the cyclist is dead and so can't give his/her side of the story.
@Mozzlytopbird @PedroStephano @AlexGMac no, because in cities like London there is often CCTV footage plus other independent witnesses.
@JuliaHB1 @Mozzlytopbird @AlexGMac there is NOT!! Many many cases have asked for CCTV and the answer has been ""<shrug> nope"
@PedroStephano you reckon a cyclist gets knocked down in central London at rush hour and there is not a single independent witness?!!!
@JuliaHB1 @PedroStephano if you check the coroners reports, yes, they usually find a shortage of witnesses and cctv.
@JuliaHB1 @PedroStephano but of course low quality radio show "journalists" don't know how to fact check so wouldn't know
@ShoestringCycle @PedroStephano I'm intrigued, what's the difference between a "journalist" and a journalist?
