So many tweets from @LBC listeners who insist I am defending Ched Evans for being a rapist when I have categorically not done that. Bizarre.

@JuliaHB1 Yes but I'd also prefer 'just' being badly beaten to being killed, doesn't make the beating 'ok' just because worse could happen. -
@J3nniferW3st but no one suggested it was ok, did they? We need to recognise the different degrees of horrible within those crimes. -
@JuliaHB1@J3nniferW3st the judge does that with length of time in jail. Judy pointed out the young girl was drunk..implies victim at fault. -
@anninnis@JuliaHB1@J3nniferW3st why? I thought she was pointing out that he shouldn't have taken advantage of her drunken state. -
@marbessa1@anninnis@JuliaHB1 trouble is it's difficult to judge out of context quotes, she probably just phrased it badly -
@J3nniferW3st@marbessa1@anninnis they weren't out of context quotes. That's what she said. -
@JuliaHB1@marbessa1@anninnis Ok scratch 'out of context' but I watched the clip & it wasn't clear to me what exactly she meant... -
@J3nniferW3st@JuliaHB1@anninnis agree. But I don't think she was victim blaming and made clear she wasn't minimising any rape.

@JuliaHB1 Having said that, the real issue here is whether she was too drunk to consent - if she WAS too drunk, why was McDonald acquitted? Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
